Not to mention it's a lot more annoying to bootup my WiiU for Wii games than just use my Wii that I also play GameCube games on).

In the case of TVs, you don’t actually need to worry about the audio output as the HDMI cable is capable of providing both audio and video output. Interestingly 1080i looks tack sharp with both cables while 720 is a bit less so which could be partially partially due to scaling to my 1080p displays but I did notice a bit of the same unstable noisy-ness in 720p as I saw in 1080p mode compared to the rock solid image quality of 1080i mode. However, if that other TV that doesn't have component ports, does have HDMI ports, then you CAN use a component to HDMI throughput, which doesn't distort the image, but simply sends the native signal to an HDMI cable, making it the next best thing for not having component ports.

Since the Wii console also accepts RCA input, there’s a highly convenient AV to HDMI adapter option from Laboen that you can consider picking to use with your console. In the list, we have mentioned a bunch of good adapter options that come along with an HDMI cable already included in the box. The adapter/upscaler you have is also of the cheap kind, and you simply can't expect too much from them. Unless your using a 1080i CRT your TV will have to deinterlace the image which in most cases adds a ton of lag. And there’s a chance your Wii U doesn’t have the same issues mine has at 1080p from the multi out so you should try that first and then try 720p to see if it looks cleaner to you.

This adapter is designed to work with all Wii Display modes like NTSC 480I, 480P, PAL 576I and process them into high-quality HDMI output. It plugs into the output socket on your Nintendo Wii console and lets you use any standard HDMI lead to connect to the TV instead of having to fiddle around with the older cables which are also lesser quality. For these models, simply plug one end into the Wii and the other end into the HDMI slot of your display device. The movement controls were awesome and the games available were fantastic (who can forget Wii Sports?I bought it for my Wii or to maybe try and hack into an Xbox2HDMI so I was interested to know if it could do HD well. If you don’t want to go that route, then you’ll have to purchase another HDMI cord separately to work with the other models.

For the best possible picture quality, the Full HD Wii to HDMI Adapters are the best option to pick. If you take a look at the list, you will notice all the adapters almost look the same and have similar features. It supports NTSC 480i 480p, PAL 576i Wii display modes, but you can’t use it with Wii Mini as it only comes with an AV input.

Many people out there own a Wii console but can’t use it because either they don’t have the right cables to connect, or the cables aren’t compatible with the TV or monitor. The plug-and-play design of this adapter make it extremely easy to use as it directly plugs in and becomes ready to function. It may be worth trying this out to get the Wii to display properly at 480p, then run it through your upscaler. Those cheap HDMI adapters don't give a better picture, and depending on the TV and the settings/upscaling abilities of your TV, the image could also get stretched, and there could be significant input lag, because of the double upscaling that will occur when using these, while a component cable of good quality will just display the native signal in its best quality, meaning there will be zero lag, and no upscaling. PLEASE NOTE:• This converter will use the component analog video signal and turn it into digital information to be sent through the HDMI cable to help the Wii function with 720/1080p, providing a better viewing experience. The image looks good, and I haven't had any issues with black bars or interference other reviewers mention.
