Boxing hero Frank Bruno has spoken out about his time in St Andrew's Hospital in Northampton". Northampton Chronicle. 14 October 2012 . Retrieved 28 March 2019. Great Britain hadn’t produced a World Champion in the Heavyweight division yet in the 20th century, but whispers started suggesting that this big lad from South London could be Britain’s next hopeful. There were a few years to wait yet. Professional Career this is incredibly emotional and it gives a whole new perspective on this man, it is no holds barred and the good thing is despite many sectioning he appears to be on the road to recovery, managing the illness and I wish him well. Eskenazi, Gerald (10 August 1993). "Bruno vs. Lewis: A Personal Battle of Britain". The New York Times . Retrieved 10 January 2014.

In 1989, Frank challenged Mike Tyson for the unified world Heavyweight title in Las Vegas. Although not winning, it was fair to say the whole of the UK was willing Frank on! Bruno reveals that he often watches these fights again. “I’m the biggest critic of my old fights. I watch both the Bonecrusher and the Witherspoon fights quite a lot because I was a youngster and I didn’t know how to pace myself. I was a late developer.” The full details of the mental health breakdown he suffered in June 2020 which left his anguished family and friends forced to make the heartbreaking decision to have Frank sectioned. It was at the club where he won an MABC title; Frank boxed three times as junior, winning twice. I don’t believe in the tablets but I take them to keep people happy.”Although Frank won the WBC Heavyweight Champions belt in 1995, this being his dream since he started boxing at 16, he is almost better know just as the decent bloke 'Frank Bruno' who is famous for saying 'Know what I mean Harry'. Now 60 years old, in this book Frank opens up about the challenges he has experienced, and most of what he has to say is about mental illness, in particular being diagnosed as 'bi-polar'. His laughter sounds the same as it always did. It is deep and resonant and strangely knowing. Bruno is laughing to lighten the mood and to make us both accept the fact that we are nearly old men now, a quarter-of-a-century on.

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players, they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts. One of the busiest years for appearances including Thailand, Spain, Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales. 3 TV ad’s a number of major product endorsements and launches given an honouree Doctorate by Bournemouth University
